Crude Spear

One of my main interests is recreating medieval & earlier style weaponry. This is a very simple, crude spear. I forget what was happening at the time, but I found myself in need of a spear for some project or other. I had this forged lance head sitting about, so I ran out, bought an ash pole, cut a slot in it, inserted the blade, slapped some wet rawhide on to hold it in place, a few copper nails for good measure... The next morning when the rawhide had dried & shrunk, viola'! ...Instant spear. Just remove water.
